collection survey   A record, including photographs, to assess the condition of the collection, with recommendations for treatment

preventative care Initial treatment to protect paintings which may have been neglected, to include the following: environmental monitoring and control, surface cleaning, cleaning of verso, securing paint layers, revarnishing, mending tears, securing of canvas properly to the stretcher, proper frame installation, backing of paintings, filling of losses and inpainting

conservation restoration Some paintings may require full conservation-restoration treatment, which may include the following: varnish removal, dry lining, strip-lining

large paintings We have experience of collecting and working on larger pictures

collection management A rolling programme for the care and maintenance of art collections

pigment analysis Microscopy and chemical analysis of cross-sections of paint. Paintings can also be X-rayed

frame conservation Small frame repairs can be made by us. Larger frame conservation projects can be arranged.
We undertake work for several museums, Cambridge colleges, the Council for the Care of Churches, and private collections, large and small
